Dr. Crew has twenty years of leadership experience in higher education and corporate sectors. Noteworthy, Dr. Crew has been a distinguished Christian Methodist Episcopal church officiant for the past Thirty years. He also has a twenty (20) year service record as a decorated United States Air Force veteran.
Dr. Crew’s experiences have afforded him a plethora of opportunities by which to not only decipher complexities but to meet the multiple challenges manifested by such complexities exceedingly well.
Possessing an armor of integrity, Dr. Crew meets no strangers, has a keen understanding of the political dynamics in operations, and is astute in the engagement of key stakeholders, staff, and students, as well as other community leaders in efforts to move projects forward positively.

Renovated chapel exterior and interior. Including upgrading the chapel and adjacent classrooms with an IMAX audio-visual system ($320,000).

Renovated Candler Hall to upgrade the banquet room into a multipurpose room with six television screens.

Developed a retail project plan for the college to lease unused buildings on the exterior of the campus.

Attained a ten-year lease from Starbucks Corporation to lease a vacant building on campus as a retail outlet for $50,000 annually.

Restructured college debt.

Negotiated with the bank to write off a $3.4 million mortgage to pay off HEAL Complex Twenty-five years early with a $1 million payment (2019).

Ensured college finances were in shape to achieve accreditation from TRACS (2018).

Represents the president by welcoming visitors, reviewing and responding to correspondences; arranging College dinners and other college functions; answering questions and meeting requests directed to the president.

Fort Valley State University (1998-2017).

Budget leveraging through analytical contract management; and outsourcing.
Impact: Avoided projected deficit of $1,890,000 during fiscal years 2008 through 2017.
Impact: Developed a campus bus project. With the acquisition of four new buses, FVSU was able to transport students around the campus and into the local community for shopping at no additional expense to the university budget.
Impact: $250,000 saved annually due to a reduction in utility use. Planned and executed the “Blue and Gold Go Green” campaign. Received the Governor’s Award in 2015 for planning and executing the “Blue and Gold Go Green” campaign.

APPOINTMENTS and PROFESSIONAL/CIVIC LEADERSHIP

Vice Chair for Professional Development, Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) on the Georgia State Council January 2008 -2010. Coordinated the human resource training and development activities for the state council, and SHRM professional chapters statewide. Developed continuing education courses that provide certification credits and/or other training resources throughout Georgia to ensure continuous professional development opportunities in human resources. Coordinated a statewide HR speakers’ bureau.

Chairman, Board of Directors, Fort Valley State University Head Start, July 2004- December 2006. Primary responsibility: Fiduciary oversight over locations in five counties where they provided child health, nutrition, transportation, and educational services for more than 380 children. Ensure compliance with all regulatory statutes; provide executive guidance and lead in the conduct of self-assessment.
While Board Chairman of FVSU Head Start (largest sponsored program/$2.5 million annual federal grant) ensured compliance with SACS Comprehensive Standards Sections 3.10.3 and 3.10.4 pertaining to the institution exercising appropriate control and maintaining financial control of externally funded or sponsored research and programs.
Established Memorandum of Agreements with Middle Georgia Technical College, Goodwill Industries, Georgia
Department of Family and Children Services, and Middle Georgia Consortium to provide work experience training at Fort Valley State University.
While serving as the Board Chair we established a Fast Track program for parents whose children were enrolled in our Head Start program to get GEDs when needed and enroll in a degree-seeking course of study.
Impact: Enrollment increased as 15% of the parents enrolled in college classes at Fort Valley State University.
Established Memorandum of Agreements with Middle Georgia Technical College, Goodwill Industries, Georgia
Department of Family and Children Services, and Middle Georgia Consortium to provide work experience training at Fort Valley State University.
Impact: Student recruitment increased by 20%.

Chairman, Board of Directors, Georgia Peach Festival, July 2002-June 2003. The Georgia Peach Festival Board promotes Georgia’s peach industry and its contribution to the national economy. The Board raises funds and other resources to support and promote the festival. The festival, the only state-sanctioned food festival in Georgia is held in Peach County, Georgia, and attracts more than 10,000 persons.

Chairman, South Georgia Employer Committee, June 1998-Nov 1998. The South Georgia Employer Committee comprises members representing the Valdosta Service Delivery Area (including Brooks, Cook, Echols, Lanier, and Lowndes Counties), employers, and members of the Georgia Department of Labor. The committee's purpose is to seek solutions to problems related to employment and training needs in the area; relate to other area employer’s information regarding the Department of Labor concerns of nonmembers; and make recommendations for service improvements.

Monitored Federal and State legislation and evolving legal issues via case law and ensured company compliance.
